Major Russian Attacks Eliminate Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and encountered interruptions to water supplies, according to city officials.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the United States, the EU and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and enforcing restrictions," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 missiles attacked the country's power systems, labeling such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were laboring to restore power.

A barrage of missiles damaged energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by local officials.

Local officials said the city came under significant strikes during nighttime hours. A young boy was killed and three other people were wounded.

The attacks come after nights of aerial attacks in the area, parts of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to identify.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was intentionally trying to destroy the national power system, with attacks already impacting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and government agencies were bracing for additional strikes.
